Root Beer Float Day

A  Perfect  Summer  Treat

Ingredients

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Root beer

Method

Spoon a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream into a tall glass. Slowly pour root beer into the glass, allowing the foam to rise and then recede before adding more root beer.

Serve with straws and spoons.

I  have  to admit – I  always  need  to  add  a  little more  Root beer after I’ve  had  some of  it.

I thought I’d  share a favorite summer  dessert:

 Cherry  Clafoutis

1 pound  of pitted  cherries ( if  you  want to be french – don’t  pit  them,  but  warn  everyone)

butter ( to  grease  the pan )

4  eggs

1  cup  milk

3/4  cup  sugar

1 generous  tablespoon  of  vanilla

3/4  c  of  flour

pinch of salt

Heat oven  to  375.

butter  a pie pan or a quiche  pan ,  fill with  pitted  cherries.

in a  bowl ,  beat the  eggs  with  the sugar.  Add  the milk and beat  again .   add  the vanilla,  flour ,and salt; stir  some  more.

Gently  pour over  the cherries . Put the  pie pan on  a baking pan and place  in  the oven  for  10  minutes .   After  10  minutes ,turn  the heat down  to  350.   Leave  in  the oven  until puffy , slightly  browned ,  and a toothpick  comes out  clean. About  35  minutes.

Serve  warm, room  temperature, or  even  cool.

Variations:  blueberries work  well.  and It  is often  made  in  the fall with apple  or  pear  slices
