Where do yo go to find new books? What is out there that you haven’t read? Of course, you can read this blog, but I don’t read everything and post about books only when a book has a strong appeal to me. Here is one suggestion: If you go the library page you will find this link. it leads you to a list of new books here at the library. But You might need a little more? Try one of the on-line book clubs , the teen book club is here. The on-line book clubs work through email – you get about 5 minutes of a book every day for 5 days — just a taste really . But a good way to get a feel for a book . Of course, there are many other books clubs as well — so try one out.
Do you make resolutions for the new year? When you make them are they all about self improvement (lose weight, exercise more, study more, use you time better) or do you have a little more fun ( read more books for fun, accessorize more, see more movies)
It doesn’t really matter what kind of resolution you make ( or when ) But if you make one, there are hints on how to succeed.
1) Make it concrete. I will lose 15 lbs, I will read 12 books just for fun, I will exercise for 30 minutes at a time 3 days a week.
2) Make small gaols along the way . I will start by exercising 15 min twice a week; I will wear a necklace once a week
3) Set an end date – I will have created my new exercise habit by June 1st, I will read 12 fun books by dec 30th.
4) Don’t forget to reward yourself along the way . A month of assignments turned in early – how about watching a favorite movie? Lose 5 pounds, how about a hike with friends.
And what if you don’t succeed? Odds are, the world will just keep spinning. But you can learn a lot, even if you didn’t succeed. Did you lose some weight – good for you . Still not exercising 5 days a week – is getting a ride, homework , family obligations, illness, getting in the way? Read 9 instead of 12 books? Maybe your goal was too big for your life right now, or maybe it will just take longer to achieve.
If you do make a resolution this year, I think you should add a fun one!
I love when people share music they love with me. I love all kinds of music. One of the members of the Fremont TAG mention OneRepublic to me, but I hadn’t looked them up yet. Today on Facebook, a frined that works at Disney put up this video. So, my turn to share.
