 Absolute Boyfriend                                           

 Shy high school student Riko Izawa aches for a boyfriend but guys just won’t look her way. Then one day she signs up for a three-day trial of a mysterious “lover figurine,” and the next thing she knows, a cute guy is delivered to her doorstep–and he wants to be her boyfriend!

His neighbor is 16-year-old Tokine Yukimura, who is also a kekkaishi! Together they share the knowledge of their ancient art and their nights battling beings from the netherworld. Sounds fun, but their families don’t get along, because each believes themselves to be the “true practitioners” of the art of the kekkaishi.

Will Yoshimori and Tokine friendship overcome their families’ ancient rivalry? And will they be able to stop the frog-demon that’s threatening their school?! Their exciting adventures and magical battles begin.

 

 Ouran High School Host Club

 In this screwball romantic comedy, a poor girl at a rich kids’ school ends up working for the school’s swankiest club– and gets mistaken for a boy! 

Hunny’s little brother, Chika, pays a visit to the Host Club–and immediately starts attacking Hunny, using all his martial-arts prowess against his older brother! Chika seems to be the absolute opposite of his sweets-loving, Bun-Bun-toting sibling, but why is he so angry with Hunny? The Host Club is determined to find out the cause. 

  Girl Got Game

  Kyo Aizawa is a teenage girl who just wants to live a normal teenage life, but her father,  who used to be a basketball player and wanted to make it to the NBA, is now determined to live his dreams through his daughter. She finds out that her father registered her as a boy and cooked up a scheme so that she would play on the boys basketball team and become the basketball player he always wanted to be.

 

Loveless

 

The mystery behind the death of his older brother was just the beginning…When 12-year-old Ritsuka discovers a posthumous message from his brother indicating he was murdered, he becomes involved in a shadowy world of spell battles and secret names. Together with the mysterious Soubi, the search to find Seimei’s killer and uncover the truth begins! WANTED! ORIGINAL FILMS CREATED BY TEENS

• Lights, Camera, Action!  Teens! Are you an aspiring filmmaker? Creative?  Enjoy making films? Have you made one for a school project?  For fun? For friends? Interested?  Get those cameras  rolling so your original film is ready to submit to our 2nd annual Dublin Directors’  Showcase  in March.  Winter break is the perfect time to work on your film. 

Submit your film February 1-7, 2009

Guidelines:  Open to all teens.  Content must be PG appropriate and produced soley by teens without adult help.

Format: Entries must be on DVD. (Must be able to play on DVD player, not just a computer)

Running Time: 10 minutes or less.

Fill out entry form available at the Dublin Library Information Desk or print out the form here and bring to the library. Drop off labeled disc with entry form attached at our Information Desk, February 1 -7.

Good Ways to Kill Some Time

 

 We’ve all experienced it…that time in the day where the brain has gone on vacation and the body is right behind.  That time in the day where you just want to kick back and entertain yourself with some mindless entertainment.   If you’re  looking for something to avoid those doldrums,  you’ll find a lot of fun and challenging quizzes at http://www.sporcle.com/games/simpsons.php.  I did the “Name The Simpsons Character” Quiz and got 62 out of 63.  If “The Simpsons aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other fun (Name Family Guy Characters) or mentally challenging (Name the state capitals) quizzes.

If you like celebrity gossip, but find that People Magazine or Perez Hilton don’t spend enough time talking about teens, http://www.teenhollywood.com/ is a great place to find all the juiciest stories about people your age.  Is Zac Efron’s and Vanessa Hudgen’s relationship in trouble?  Who was that mystery woman that Robert Pattinson was seen kissing.  This site keeps you up to date on all the teen Hollywood gossip.

Coming Soon…

The New Year is just around the corner and with it comes the excitement of a whole new batch of books from your favorite authors.  Teen lit luminaries such as Meg Cabot, Ann Brashares, Zoey Dean, and J.K. Rowling (I’m cheating with this one, seeing that her book comes out this month) all have fresh titles to add to their popular series coming out in 2009.  There may not be an upcoming title that would prompt you to camp out at the bookstore until midnight (like a new Twilight or Harry Potter would do) but 2009 looks to have a lot a good books coming out that should keep us all busy.  Which title(s) are you looking forward to?
